MVP Robotics is a small and lean start-up company born out of Dartmouth College, based in Bradford, VT. MVP’s robotic tackling dummies have been eliminating practice injuries on the football field since 2015, from the NFL to youth football. MVP's defense line is rapidly gaining traction as the DoD's preferred robotic shooting target that offers realistic, dynamic training for our armed forces. MVP Robotics continues to develop next-generation training and operational tools to overcome the challenges of tomorrow.Position Summary:
The Field Support Engineer (FSE) will provide on-site technical support, maintenance, and training for a Marine Corps program utilizing robotic shooting targets for live-fire training. The FSE will serve as a key point of contact between the engineering team, program management, and staff at each base during deployment, upgrades, troubleshooting, and sustainment of robotic targets.
This role requires strong technical acumen in electromechanical systems, field service experience, and the ability to operate independently in austere, military training environments.
This role will support daily activity on base at Camp Pendleton and Twentynine Palms. Regular travel up to 25% of the time to company locations and customer sites.Key Responsibilities:
  • Deploy, install, configure, and maintain robotic target systems in support of USMC training exercises.
  • Provide hands-on troubleshooting and repair of mechanical, electrical, and software issues with robotic systems.
  • Interface directly with Marines, range control personnel, and program stakeholders to ensure operational readiness and user satisfaction.
  • Conduct system checks, diagnostics, firmware updates, and field modifications as required.
  • Deliver on-site training to Tactical Trainers and Maintenance Technicians on system operation and maintenance.
  • Prepare detailed field service reports, maintenance logs, and incident documentation.
  • Support field testing and provide feedback to engineering teams to improve product reliability and performance.
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures, operational guidelines, and security protocols.
  • Participate in logistics support activities, including inventory control, shipping/receiving, and spare parts management.
  • Represent the company to customers, colleagues, and the broader community in a professional and respectful manner.
Required Qualifications:
  • Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Robotics Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent military training/experience).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience supporting complex electromechanical or robotic systems in the field.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, embedded systems and power electronics.
  • Experience using test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and diagnostic software.
  • Hands-on welding and fabrication experience.
  • Familiarity with networking, radio communications, and embedded Linux or Windows-based systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, electrical schematics, and mechanical drawings.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently under pressure.
  • Willingness to travel extensively, including to remote military training ranges and temporary duty stations.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and work in outdoor environments under variable weather conditions.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and eligible for DoD facility access.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior military service or experience supporting U.S. DoD.
  • Experience with robotics, autonomous vehicles, or unmanned systems.
  • Experience conducting training on technical equipment.
