The HVAC Technician - Level 4/5 position is critical to maintaining the HVAC systems that support SpaceX's facilities and operations. This role involves a variety of responsibilities including the maintenance and repair of HVAC support equipment, ensuring that systems are operating at peak efficiency, and adhering to all safety and quality regulations. The technician will work closely with engineering and management teams to ensure that all HVAC systems are functioning optimally, which is essential for the success of SpaceX's missions. The HVAC Technician will be responsible for maintaining a preventative maintenance schedule on launch-associated HVAC systems, performing ductwork modifications, and executing various repairs. This includes brazing, soldering, and the evacuation and charging of refrigerants. The technician will also be tasked with performing water piping and insulation modifications and repairs. A strong understanding of HVAC systems, electrical safety, and pneumatic principles is essential for this role, as is the ability to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment. The technician must be able to adapt quickly to changing roles and responsibilities while maintaining a safe and clean working environment. In addition to technical skills, the position requires physical stamina and the ability to work in various conditions, including exposure to fumes and noise. The technician must be able to lift up to 25 lbs and work at elevated heights. This role is vital to ensuring that SpaceX's facilities are equipped with reliable HVAC systems, which are crucial for the comfort and safety of all personnel involved in the company's ambitious projects.
Responsibilities
? Maintain and repair HVAC support equipment on facilities systems including air handlers, chilled water, condenser pumps, cooling towers, valves, filters, etc.

? Maintain preventative maintenance schedule on launch associated HVAC systems

? Collaborate with engineering and managers to maintain systems in peak operating condition
,
? Follow all regulations and appropriate SpaceX procedures including quality policies, safety policies, and standards per OSHA, EPA, NIOSH, NFPA, ASME, and NEC
,
? Perform ductwork modifications and various repairs
,
? Perform brazing, soldering, evacuation and charging of various refrigerants
,
? Perform water piping and insulation modifications and repairs
Requirements
? High school diploma or equivalency certificate
,
? 5+ years of professional experience working with HVAC, pneumatic, mechanical, or electrical systems
Nice-to-haves
? Degree or certificate in HVAC technology from an accredited technical school or college
,
? Knowledge in HVAC, electrical safety, pneumatic principles, tubing, pipe-fittings, rotating machinery (pumps, air compressors, etc.), and a variety of mechanical fasteners

? Universal certification from the Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI)
,
? Knowledge of high-pressure gas, flammable gas, and refrigeration gases
,
? Professional experience maintaining high efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters and standard air handling unit (AHU) filtration systems

? Basic understanding of the theory of operation for refrigeration, motors, and mechanics
,
? Ability to understand schematic diagrams and architectural plans
